Who is Saccater?

Saccater, pronounced as /sæˈkeɪtə/, is based on the botanical term "saccate", commonly used in botany to describe the "pouch-like" structure of flowers or plants. Such as Nematanthus, Bellflowers, and so on. Ear tips are mostly shaped like a “saccate” structure, which is why we name the earplugs “Saccater”. We also design the plug handle with a similar saccate shape.

Saccater is a brand dedicated to providing innovative noise-reducing solutions, and the Saccater Focus Noise-Reducing Earplug is designed with precision and inspired by nature, offer effective noise reduction while ensuring comfort and style. In 2025, Saccater launches the new model "Moment Earplugs" for concerts and live entertainments.

The story of Saccater begins with its founder, Charlie Mok, who has always been highly sensitive to noise. His acute sense of hearing, while advantageous for appreciating music, also made him easily disturbed by everyday sounds, leading to significant mental stress.
A few years ago, Charlie and his family moved to a vibrant city center to facilitate his son Armour's schooling. However, the constant noise from a nearby bar and a massive shopping mall was overwhelming. Despite good soundproofing in their new home, Charlie's sensitivity to noise affected his sleep and Armour's ability to focus on his homework.

Frustrated with the lack of effective earplugs on the market — many of which were uncomfortable, poorly tested, or lacked essential features — Charlie decided to take matters into his own hands. He enlisted the help of his brother Bourne, a seasoned mold designer and manufacturer, and an ENT specialist friend. Together, they studied the structure of the ear and used 3D data from hundreds of real ears to inform their design.

Inspired by the saccate structures found in nature, such as the bellflower, Charlie and Bourne designed an earplug that fits securely and comfortably. They created a new design with four sizes to ensure a perfect fit for all ear types, and the earplug stem's 3D shape ensures effective noise reduction.
Charlie named the brand Saccater, reflecting the botanical inspiration behind the design. The first users of the Saccater earplugs were Charlie and his son Armour, who found them invaluable for peaceful sleep and focused study. Friends and family also tested the earplugs, leading to multiple revisions and improvements.
